Continuing it emphasis on cultivating and hiring top-level professionals, Vermont Tech is pleased to announce the promotions of Christopher Beattie to Associate Dean of Administration and Anne Smeglin to Site Director of the Bennington Campus, and to welcome Kelly Rue Riso as Director of Payroll and Employee Services.
Beattie, a resident of Essex Junction, has served the College in multiple capacities over the past 15 years, most recently as Site IT and Facilities Administrator for the Williston campus. He received his Master of Science degree from Boston University and his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University.
As Associate Dean of Administration, Beattie’s primary focus is managing and maintaining the College’s grant programs, including institutionalizing best practices for grant execution. He is also involved in facilities planning, applied research initiatives, and ongoing energy reduction initiatives.
Smeglin joined Vermont Tech in 2011 as a Clinical Associate in Nursing. As Site Director, she is playing a leadership role in the expansion of Vermont Tech’s nursing programs, including a new facility at 210 South Street in Bennington to meet the program’s growing needs. Smeglin is responsible for the administration of the Associate and Practical Nursing programs. She is working closely with faculty and staff to provide for the learning needs of all nursing students at the Bennington campus, ensuring the curriculum is up to date and prepares nurses for entry-level positions as RNs or LPNs. She is also collaborating with community partners to establish and maintain clinical agency affiliations. A resident of Williamstown, Massachusetts, Smeglin received her Master of Science degree in nursing as a clinical nurse specialist from Sage Graduate School and her post-master’s certificate in nursing education from Rutgers University. She earned a bachelor of science in nursing at Mount Saint Mary College.
Kelly Rue Riso, a resident of Barre, comes to Vermont Tech with many years of experience in customer relations, safety, occupational therapy, leadership, and health care administration as well as participation in new employee orientations. She most recently served with Pike Industries, Inc. as a Workers Compensation Administrator. She holds an associate of science degree in occupational therapy from Lasell College and a Bachelor of Science degree in health care administration from the University of Phoenix.
