Katherine (Kat) O’Neill joined the firm as an Associate in 2011, and was a Summer Associate at the firm in 2010. She works with corporate, institutional, and individual clients in real estate, business, and health care transactions. Kat has lived in Vermont since 2001. While in law school, Kat worked as a law clerk at the Chittenden County State Attorney’s Office. Prior to law school, Kat worked with adolescents at the Centerpoint School in Winooski, Vermont, where she was a Counseling Teacher.
Margaret Platzer also joined the firm as an Associate in September 2011. Ms. Platzer is a health care and corporate attorney advising clients on a variety of regulatory and transactional matters. Her practice includes insurance regulation and licensing, provider reimbursement issues, state and federal health care regulatory matters, and privacy and security matters, including matters involving compliance with federal privacy laws such as HIPAA. Ms. Platzer also works with the business group advising clients in matters related to corporate organization, licensing, transactions and compliance.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Platzer was Assistant General Counsel and Privacy Officer for Delta Dental of Massachusetts and their subsidiary DentaQuest, located in Boston, Massachusetts. Before her in-house work, Ms. Platzer was a law clerk at the Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities, and Health Care Administration (BISHCA) during and immediately after law school. Ms. Platzer’s work at BISHCA focused primarily on matters related to health care and insurance regulation.
