The days are getting noticeably longer, and the warmth, for this week at least, is inviting us outside and into the sun again, reminding us that spring is on the way.
At VEOC, spring means creating opportunities for business owners to reflect on exit strategies such as an employee ownership conversion. It also means hosting our annual conference and attending other events, like the National Center for Employee Ownership's 2023 conference.
See all our upcoming programming at our website's upcoming events page.

We're thrilled to announce Derek Peebles as our keynote speaker for our 21st Annual Vermont Employee Ownership Conference, June 1 at UVM's Davis Center in Burlington. Derek is a powerful champion of employee ownership in his role as Senior Director of Public Policy & Advocacy for Inclusive Marketing at the American Sustainable Business Network.
As a leader in community economic development, Derek has built on cross-cultural and cross-sector collaboration to move organizations forward. Over the past 15 years, he has successfully organized local business communities, residents, and institutions for sustainable economic development by leveraging private, public and social capital.
RSVP for our conference today and we'll send you a link once registration opens.

On March 1, we're partnering with Peoples Trust Company in St. Albans for an in-person seminar on Business Exit Strategies.
Statistics show that only 20-30% of businesses that go to market end up selling, resulting in regrets for departing owners and hardship for employees and communities that rely on those 80% of businesses that don't find a buyer. This seminar will offer an overview of how to assess and prepare for internal exit paths and take a close look at the different ways of selling a business: to one or more key employees, to the larger group of employees or out to the wild. More details and registration available here.

The spring also brings the biggest employee ownership event in the nation, the NCEO Employee Ownership Conference. Annie Winkler, VEOC's Program and Operations Generalist, will be heading out to Kansas City to connect with the community of 1800+ employee owners and service providers from April 25-27.
For several days of thought-provoking keynotes, engaging breakouts, and impactful peer networking, register today for the NCEO conference.
