What:
This Friday, April 7th, a coalition of organizations representing health care professionals from across Vermont will come together at the Vermont State House to elevate the increasing public health consequences of climate change, including growing climate anxiety, and will call on the Legislature to advance policies that take swift and bold climate action, in order to build a cleaner, healthier future for all Vermonters.
These health care professionals know how the damaging impacts of climate change are not limited to the environment, but are also taking a serious toll on human health. Continuing to pollute our air, land and water and live a lifestyle dependent on fossil fuels is contributing to negative health outcomes. They will highlight the latest science and consequences of climate change on public health from their professional perspectives, ranging from physical to mental health, and outline steps they hope legislators will take to address the climate crisis.
Participants will include representatives from:
-
Vermont Climate and Health Alliance
-
Vermont Public Health Association
-
Vermont Medical Society
