Franklin County Field Days returns to Highgate for its 46th season August 4-7

This family-fun Vermont tradition features midway rides and games, live music, livestock events, a petting zoo, demolition derby, truck and tractor pulls, 4-H exhibits, demonstrations, poker tournaments and favorite fair food.

Music acts include Nashville country artist (and Montpelier, VT, native) Jamie Lee Thurston (8:30 pm Thursday); The Old Man Garage Band (11 am Friday); Friction (7:30 pm Friday); Express Train (4 pm Saturday); Jolly Roger (7:30 pm Saturday); and Johnny Cash Tribute Show (2 pm Sunday).

Daily highlights:

* Thursday: Demolition Derby and Minivan Mash-Up (7 pm)

* Friday: Oxen Pulling (9:30 am), Truck Pulls (6 pm)

* Saturday: Open Dairy Show (10 am), Gymkhana (4 pm), Tractor Pulls (6 pm)

* Sunday: Draft Horse Pulls (9:30 am), ATV Drag Race (12:15 pm), Corn Hole Competition (1 pm)

The $15 pay-one-price admission includes unlimited midway rides, live entertainment, track events, exhibits and parking.

The fairgrounds open at 10 am Thursday and 7:30 am Friday - Sunday at 170 Airport Road. The midway opens daily at noon.
