Welch Promoting Small Business Saturday in Saint Albans Nov. 26
SAINT ALBANS, Vt. – Vermont Rep. Peter Welch is visiting Saint Albans Nov. 26 to promote Small Business Saturday, an annual initiative to support local businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Welch and other officials are taking a walking tour along Main Street to remind people to shop locally Nov. 30. The tour kicks off at 11 a.m. Nov. 26 at the Hampton Inn, 43 Lake St., in Saint Albans. Small Business Saturday was founded in 2010 by American Express.

WHY: Highlight Small Business Saturday, an annual initiative started by American Express in 2010 to encourage people to shop locally the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Vermont has approximately 77,600 small businesses, which employ approximately 160,000 workers, 61 percent of the state’s workforce.
