Chinese Medicine Talk Nov. 6 at Northern Vermont University-Johnson

JOHNSON, VERMONT — Acupuncturist, herbalist and holistic health educator Arthur Makaris will speak on Chinese medicine Nov. 6 in the Current Topics in Science Lecture Series at Northern Vermont University’s Johnson campus.

The talks, all at 4 p.m. in Room 207 Bentley Hall, are free for the public and coordinated by NVU’s Environmental and Health Sciences Department. The series runs through the fall. 

Makaris’s talk is entitled “Sparks of Life: The Concept of Qi in Chinese Medicine and Naturalist Philosophy.” Makaris, with the Acupuncture & Qigong Health Center in Essex Junction, is on the adjunct staff in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.   

The other November speakers and their topics are:

·         Nov. 13 — Anthony D’Amato, University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, “Sustaining the Northern Forest in the Face of Global Change”

·         Nov. 20 — Ginger Nickerson, Vermont Invasives, “Telling Stories: Using Qualitative Research to Explore Natural Resource Management Issues”
