Why:                Vermont agriculture is transforming in ways that are creating uncertainty for many farmers and farm communities. Recently, VLT has received many requests from farmers seeking to sell or lease their farms due to low milk prices or pending retirement. At the same time, we have a list of 300 farmers looking to buy land. Over the past 10 years we have worked tirelessly to pair buyers with sellers, helping to transfer over $55 million in farm real estate to support the next generation of farm entrepreneurs in our state. This year we are celebrating the 100th farmland access project, and the farmers who have made this work possible.
