Newport, Vermont - When the weather gets hot Newport is the place to be in order to get out and about with lots of options for fun and friends! When it is time to sit down for a bite to eat, there are many spots near Lake Memphremagog that allow for a great meal with an even better view.
On Wednesday, June 30th Wednesday’s on the Waterfront retunred with Al Fresco dining options, stop into Le Belvedere and grab a spot on their outdoor patio to enjoy the show, or even order take out for a picnic on the grass.
Back on Main Street before the show you can take in a meal at Lago Trattoria, Dusit Thai Cuisine or grab some items to go from Newport Natural Market and Cafe with many local options for food and beverages, including desserts from nearby bakeries.
Newport does it right by including our young ones in the foodie fun! The Lunchbox, powered by local non-profit Green Mountain Farm to School (GMFTS) has free summer meals for kids around the Kingdom every week. The Lunchbox can be found on the causeway every Thursday with several free options for kids, and inexpensive meals for their adults.
‘GMFTS and the Abbey Food Service Group are excited to operate the Lunchbox food truck again this summer. This program is an important part of GMFTS's strategy to increase access to healthy, local food in the Northeast Kingdom.’ - Amrita Parry of GMFTS shared.
Parry went on to invite the Newport community to stop by on Thursdays from 11 am to 1 pm at Gardner Park and on Monday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm at the Derby Jr. High for free meals for kids & teens, and affordable adult meals.
And while you are driving on the Causeway, be sure to stop into the local farmers market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From local produce, to Smokin' Blue Devil BBQ and The Sweet Penguin sweet treats, there is something for everyone.
