Intervale Center presents Summervale July 5 – August 30

This summer, the Intervale Center in Burlington is proud to present Summervale, a weekly food and music festival that brings the community together to celebrate local food and drink, great music, and Vermont’s thriving food scene. Every Thursday from July 5 – August 30 from 5:30 – 8 p.m., the Center’s historic farmstead lawn turns into a food and music festival with kids activities, local food and drink for purchase, Slow Food Vermont tastings, live music and more. With free admission, family-friendly fare like flatbread slices from American Flatbread Burlington Hearth and burgers from Farmhouse Tap & Grill, and a beautiful outdoor setting, the event is one of the best things you can do each Thursday even throughout the 9-week series. Summervale brings people together to celebrate and support local food and farms in the beloved Intervale, a unique community resource for agriculture, conservation and recreation.

Now in its 15th season, Summervale is also a fundraiser for the Intervale Center’s mission to strengthen community food systems in Vermont by supporting farm businesses, protecting land and water resources, and getting more good food to more people. Food and drink vendors include: American Flatbread, The Farmhouse Group, Pingala, Lake Champlain Chocolates, The Skinny Pancake, Duino Duende, Citizen Cider, Zero Gravity, Halyard Brewing, Farmers and Foragers, Joy Ride Pops, and Tomgirl Juice. Kids activities by lead sponsor City Market, local food tastings by Slow Food Vermont and rotating guest organizations and vendors bring variety each week, as does the amazing line-up of live music, including Sabouyouma, Ryan Montbleau and Julia Caesar.

“Summervale is one way we can further connect to our community and celebrate the power of good food,” Travis Marcotte, Executive Director of the Intervale Center, said. “We’re thrilled to provide our community with a fun and easy way to enjoy our outdoor beauty and the amazing food, drinks and music that make Vermont so special.

John Tashiro, City Market’s General Manager, notes, “We’re delighted to partner with the Intervale Center and wish them a happy 30th birthday this year! Their work has and continues to be so influential in the state and nationally to enhance farm viability and land sustainability. Their enterprise programs, like the Food Hub and Success on Farms have been key initiatives in leading a community food revolution. Summervale is great example of how the Intervale Center highlights their work, which dovetails with the Co-op’s mission so nicely, in an engaging and community-oriented way.”

Summervale is made possible by a list of incredible sponsors, including: City Market/Onion River Co-op, American Flatbread Burlington Hearth, Farmhouse Tap & Grill, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Zero Gravity, VSECU, The Skinny Pancake, Twincraft Skincare, Soundtoys, Patagonia Burlington, One Tree Planted, Gardener's Supply Company, National Life Group, Citizen Cider, Halyard Brewing Co., Main Street Landing, Burlington Electric Department, Find and Go Seek and StrayCat Flower Farm.
