About Lila & Theron:

Set in rural America and spanning much of the 20th century, Lila & Theron

captures the spirit of the American rural experience, as it relates to

personal stories of love and sacrifice. Award-winning author and public radio

commentator Bill Schubart first introduced us to Lila and Theron in his 2008

collection, The Lamoille Stories.

"Through the eyes of Lila and Theron, Schubart manages to not only give us a

great love story, but also an homage to an icy hardscrabble Vermont, and a

portrait of an evolving rural America in the 20th century. This book is both

heartbreaking, tender and as real as a winter day. I loved it." — Thomas

Christopher Greene, bestselling author of The Headmaster’s Wife.

About Bill Schubart:

Bill Schubart is both an award-winning novelist and a political and cultural

commentator heard weekly on Vermont Public Radio (210,000 listeners). He is a

frequent public speaker on writing and entrepreneurship. Bill grew up in a

small town in Lamoille County in Northern Vermont. In his largely

French-Canadian family, he heard countless stories that fed is desire to

write them down.

About Vanishing Vermonters:

The 160-page book includes photographs and quotes from rural Vermonters who

discuss their home state as it is today. Some are good thoughts; some are

pretty tough. The 30 pages of photographs are black and white pictures that

show Vermont as it is— abandoned homes, unique roadside signs, barns

standing starkly in a field, wind turbines on mountain tops and solar fields

planted in hayfields and glaring at the passer-by, snowstorms and a few

unique scenics, some beautiful, some quirky.

About Peter Miller:

Peter Miller began his photographic career in 1953, assisting Yousuf Karsh.

He began his career as a writer later that decade, reporting for Life. He

lives in Waterbury, Vermont and is the author of five books including Vermont

People and People of the Great Plains.
