Lebanon, N.H., On Sunday, August 20th, the Green Mountain Motorcycle Ride (GMMR) will once again ride off at 10 am from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center for the 15th installment of this annual fundraiser.
GMMR is an opportunity for motorcycling enthusiasts to raise money for cancer research and patient services at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Participants are encouraged to “Leave your back pegs down for those we've lost to cancer" as they embark on a 120 mile ride across the roads less traveled in the picturesque countryside of New Hampshire and Vermont. Riders and their guests will enjoy a light breakfast prior to departure thanks to Panera, enjoy a safe 3.5-4hr ride thanks to the assistance of NH/VT State Troopers, and return to Norris Cotton Cancer Center at approximately 2pm for a celebration featuring guest speakers, prize drawings and catering courtesy of Brothers House of Smoke.
The GMMR was founded in 2003 to honor cancer survivor, Diane Yunggebauer, of Hartland, Vt. After Diane was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, her nephew John Brasseur and his brother Matt took to their motorcycles with a dozen or so friends and colleagues from work for the inaugural ride in 2003.
Since this time, GMMR has raised more than $300,000 for Norris Cotton Cancer Center - northern New England’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Funds raised from the ride support cancer research – including clinical trials that offer area residents access to the latest innovations in care – as well as state-of-the-art equipment and services such as massage, support groups and resource libraries that support people living with cancer.
Riders are asked to raise a minimum of $150 per bike ($25 for passengers) to participate. Come join a great group of motorcyclists riding for a reason and register today at www.greenmountainride.org
GMMR is made possible thanks to the continued support of donors and corporate partners such as Brothers House of Smoke, Jim Mauchly Mountain Graphics Photography, the Hypertherm HOPE foundation, RSM, Panera, Laconia Harley-Davidson, Global Truck Traders, Rest “n” Nest Campground and The Home Depot.
