Stonecutter Spirits to Host VBSR Networking Get-Together June 28

Event to Focus on Sustainability, Social Entrepreneurship

A message to visitors to the Stonecutter Spirits website notes “shhhh… the Spirits are sleeping,” but Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) is planning to wake them up! Members and friends of the organization are invited to join VBSR for a Networking Get-Together hosted by the start-up craft distillery on June 28th from 5:30-7:30 at their sustainably retrofitted facility in Middlebury.

“As a start-up business, Stonecutter Spirits is proactively thinking about and taking steps toward sustainability,” said VBSR Executive Director Jane Campbell. “As social entrepreneurs, they sustainably retrofitted a 12,000 square foot tile factory which meets their needs and better serves the community and their employees. Their business plan also includes a structure for paid family leave, robust professional growth programs, and generous and flexible time-off policies. These are the types of practices we like to shine a light on and highlight, so that other business owners might be inspired to see what types of actions they can take to impact their employees, community, environment, and, of course, their bottom line.”

Campbell noted that the event is open to the public and is free for VBSR members as well as state and elected officials, and is $10 for nonmembers. Guests will have a chance to tour the facility, network with forward-thinking business professionals, hear more about Stonecutter’s journey, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar provided by the hosts.

The June Networking Get-Together Hosted by Stonecutter Spirits is part of a statewide series dedicated to helping connect like-minded business leaders and share knowledge, tips, and techniques around the triple-bottom-line approach to business. The event is sponsored by Danforth Pewter, Greenvest, Langrock Sperry & Wool, Let’s Grow Kids, Merritt & Merritt, Moulton Law Group, SunCommon, and Vermont Trophy & Engraving.

Pre-registration is requested at www.vbsr.org/events.
