The Vermont Institute of Natural Science
Presents
Magnificent Mammals
Join the Vermont Institute of Natural Science as we celebrate the magnificent world of mammals on Saturday, August 20, 2016. "Magnificent Mammals" will feature a variety of fascinating mammals introduced to you by wildlife presenters from around the region.
At 11:00 am, Wildlife Encounters will present "Global Wildlife," as they guide you on an imaginary safari from deserts to rain forests where you'll meet seven magnificent mammals in person! Along the journey, you'll be awed by a diverse array of creatures ranging from the fox of the Arctic tundra to the "little kangaroos" of the Australian grasslands. At 2:00 pm, a naturalist from Squam Lakes Natural Science Center will introduce you to wild mammals that could be encountered in our own forests, fields or wetlands of New England. At 3:30 pm, join an educator from the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge as he presents "Carnivores of the Northeast." You will discover the fascinating truth about coyotes, coy dogs, and coy wolves. Be ready to encounter an Eastern coy wolf as well as a gray fox and a fisher. Explore the amazing abilities of these magnificent mammals.
Enjoy all-day interactive activities including face painting and crafts as well as the Mammal Biofacts Table, where you will have the opportunity to feel pelts and compare mammals' skulls. Also, attend one of VINS' own awe-inspiring bird-on-glove presentations, which will be held at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm.
All activities and events are included with the price of admission, which is $14.50 for adults; $13.50 for seniors, 62 and above; $12.50 for youth, ages 4 to 17; and free for members and for children, 3 and younger.
