22nd Annual 5K Doggie Fun Run and Walk for the Animals
Run and Walk with Your Dogs to Support 1,000 Rescued Animals
June 12, 2016 – Battery Park, Burlington
The Humane Society of Chittenden County works with many partners to ensure that Vermont treats her companion animals humanely. In addition to its most visible work in animal sheltering and adoptions, HSCC employs a humane investigator who responds to reports of animal cruelty; runs humane education programs for children and adults; spays/neuters and vaccinates feral cats; boards the pets of families in crisis; and works tirelessly to see that the animals who land at HSCC find new loving homes.
With no government funding or affiliation with a national organization, HSCC relies almost entirely upon donations from the community to meet its $880,000 annual budget. HSCC’s annual Walk for the Animals is vital to the organization’s fundraising goals.
This year’s 22nd Annual Walk for the Animals features a timed 5K doggie fun run, a dog parade on Church Street, and a corporate challenge for local businesses to get involved. There are commemorative event t-shirts for everyone who raises $100 or more. Fabulous prizes will be given in the following categories: largest dog; smallest dog; best dog costume; dog/owner look-a-like; top fundraising youth; top fundraising adult; top fundraising team; top fundraising corporate challenge team; top, two legged finishers; top three six legged finishers; top youth finisher and top corporate challenge team finisher.
This event will be held rain or shine on Sunday, June 12 in Battery Park, Burlington. Participants can help HSCC raise $100,000 by getting sponsored to run or walk at www.firstgiving.com/hscc click on events! All donations benefit animals in need.
The NorthCountry Federal Credit Union 22nd Annual Walk for the Animals is supported by dozens of animal loving businesses throughout Chittenden and Grand Isle counties. Bob Morgan, NorthCountry’s CEO, states: “We are excited to be the presenting sponsor of the 2016 Walk for the Animals to support the Humane Society of Chittenden County and everything they do for animals in our community.”
