Plan to attend the next VMEC Vermont Manufacturers Forum, highlighting Lean Culture and Operational Transformation at Built by Newport (formerly Newport Furniture Parts), in their Newport facility.
Built by Newport has streamlined processes through a series of Lean improvements, including: reduced set-up times, better standardization of organization and workflow, optimization of plant layout and cells, and importantly, employee participation.
The Forum will begin with a presentation highlighting the company's Lean journey and successes, followed by a tour of the facility. In addition, representatives from the Northern Forest Center and the Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association, both important partners in Built by Newport's transformation, will be available to provide information about programs to support wood manufacturers innovation and growth. In January of this year, Dave LaForce, President of Built by Newport, was named the Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association Woodworker of the Year.
Registration and presentation will take place at The Gateway Center, 84 Fyfe Drive, Newport, followed by Built by Newport factory tour at their 450 Main Street, Newport location. The two venues are 3/10 mile from one another; you may leave your car at the Gateway Center until the conclusion of the event.
