GIRLS ON THE RUN VERMONT HOSTS 2ND ANNUAL LIMITLESS POTENTIAL DAY, PARTNERING WITH UVM & BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF VERMONT
Limitless Potential Day, a special and exclusive event hosted by Girls on the Run Vermont, is excited to announce its return on Sunday, April 10, 2016. Now in its 2nd year, this free, day-long event is a collaborative partnership between Girls on the Run Vermont and the University of Vermont Women’s Athletics Department, and is presented by long-time GOTRVT supporter, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont. The event will be held from 10am-2pm at the Roy L. Patrick Gym at the University of Vermont in Burlington.
“The day is one of motivation, health, and encouragement,” explained Nancy Heydinger, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Vermont. “It is an opportunity to show our girls that they can be whoever they want to be when they grow up, with UVM students as their role models and inspiration.”
The day’s events include mini-workshops and lessons with UVM student athletes and Girls on the Run coaches that cover academic and physical goal setting, as well as the importance of positive relationships with friends and family members. Modeled after lessons in the Girls on the Run curriculum, the goal of Limitless Potential Day is to connect Girls on the Run participants to young women who have pushed themselves to achieve their full potential, both physically and academically. The day will conclude with healthy lunch in the University cafeteria and a fun Run/Walk around the indoor UVM track with student athletes.
“UVM Athletics is proud to partner with Girls on the Run to promote the health, wellness and power of girls and women. Through a shared love of exercise, we empower one another to realize our full potentials and we have fun doing it! Our female student athletes thrive on opportunities where they can practice their leadership skills while giving back to an outstanding organization like Girls on the Run,” said Cathy Rahill, of the Department of Athletics at UVM, about the partnership.
Exclusive to current Girls on the Run Vermont participants and their chaperones, this free event will accept registrations until capacity is reached. Learn more at girlsontherunvermont.org/limitless
