With over 50 years in the furniture business,  Built by Newport

(formerly Newport Furniture Parts) has undergone major Lean improvements that were conducted plant-wide over the last two years. What Built by Newport has accomplished to streamline processes - reduced set-up times, better standardization of organization and workflow, optimization of plant layout and cells, employee participation - can be applied to any organization and should be of special interest to other manufacturers. There is NO FEE for this forum, but you must pre-register.

Thursdays, June 2 and 16
(both dates must be attended)

8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Continuing Education and Workforce Development office, VTC Willston campus, Williston

The 2-day format of this interactive workshop is designed to increase the learning through applying what is being taught to current projects. Attendees focus on their own projects for the in-class exercises. And between Day 1 and Day 2, additional work on current projects is completed. Typical projects that participants bring to the workshop include capital improvements (new equipment or facilities changes), product or service development, IT-related, continuous improvement and quality projects.  We held this same session last fall and it was a huge success!
