CCV to Host Free Information Session on Course to Help Students Earn College Credit for Prior Learning
On December 8, the Community College of Vermont (CCV) will hold a free information session on Assessment of Prior Learning (APL) courses at the Upper Valley academic center. This event is open to the public, and will also be broadcast online through a web conference.
Assessment of Prior Learning, offered through the Vermont State Colleges (VSC), allows students to earn college credits through college-level learning and experience acquired on the job, through volunteerism, self-study, military training, or other avenues. The APL course is designed to assist students in the preparation of individual portfolios, which are presented to the VSC Office of External Programs for assessment by faculty from the Vermont State Colleges and other qualified practitioners. In addition to APL, CCV offers several other Prior Learning Assessment programs around the state, including the Focused Portfolio Development course, credit by exam, course challenges, and the Education and Training Evaluation Service.
