Please join the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (VABVI) for “Exploring Accessibility features of the iPhone for Students with Visual Impairments” on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at VABVI’s office located at 60 Kimball Avenue, South Burlington, VT.
Students will review the accessibility menu, which includes both hearing and zoom features for low vision to total blind students; explore assistive touch for those with problems related to hand movement; demonstrate various Siri tasks; use access notes to read and write on the iDevice; review basic phone features and text options; and meet other students and adults with visual impairments! This information session will expand core curriculum areas such as assistive technology, socialization, career education, recreation and leisure, independent skills and self-determination in order to help further our mission of enabling Vermonters with vision problems, whether blindness or visual impairment, to achieve and maintain independence.
Save the Date! Lunch will be included at this event. To register, contact VABVI”s Stephanie Bissonette at [email protected] or call 1-800-639-5861 ext. 225.
VABVI was founded in 1926 with the assistance of Helen Keller and the American Foundation for the Blind. We are the only private, non‑profit organization in the state providing comprehensive support services for visually impaired Vermonters of all ages. As we approach our 90th year, we proudly reflect on the work we have done and look ahead to what more we can do. VABVI offices are located in Brattleboro, Montpelier, Rutland and South Burlington.
