Gov. Peter Shumlin’s public appearance schedule

MONTPELIER – Gov. Peter Shumlin will travel to Montreal next week to meet with leaders of the Quebec government and business community to discuss a variety of topics including increased opportunities for investment, trade, and job growth on both sides of the border. The Governor and Quebec Premier Phillipe Couillard will be on hand for the signing of a memorandum of understanding formalizing a new partnership between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec (FCCQ) and the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Vermont Quebec Enterprise Initiative (VQEI).

Increasing economic opportunities between Vermont and Quebec has been a priority for the Governor. In May, the Governor and legislative leaders announced $100,000 to further economic ties between Vermont and Quebec and attract Quebec companies to set up locations in Vermont. Last week, the Governor announced that the state is in negotiations with a Canadian Company looking to establish a new facility in the U.S.
