Brattleboro, VT -- (April 6, 2015) -- As part of the Wellness in Windham Spring 2015 calendar, BMH orthopaedic surgeon Elizabeth McLarney, MD, will present a program on Monday, April 20 at 6:00 PM in the Brew Barry Conference Center. Her topic of discussion will be shoulder arthritis.
“Almost all people who have arthritis find that it affects their lives in some way. It can affect their everyday activities, their jobs, their financial resources or their relationships with family and friends,” says Dr. McLarney. “Arthritis is not easy to live with, but there is much we can do to change, overcome or cope with the problems it presents.”
While there are many cases that call for a surgical approach to fixing a badly injured joint or a joint with little to no cartilage remaining, most patients prefer to first attempt non-surgical treatment options. At Dr. McLarney’s free program she will discuss several treatment options for shoulder arthritis. This is a great opportunity for participants to learn more and have their questions answered.
“Arthritis in the shoulder can occur simply due to degeneration, because of a specific injury or as a result of inflammation in the joint,” says Dr. McLarney. “Regardless of the root cause, arthritis results in painful, stiff movement.”
Dr. Elizabeth McLarney received her doctor of medicine from Albany Medical College, after which she served her internship and residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and a fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
