BMH Offers Free Self-Management Workshops for Healthier Living
BRATTLEBORO, VT -- This winter, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is offering four self-management workshops to give individuals new tools to deal with chronic health issues and live a fuller, healthier life. All of the workshops are free and open to anyone with a chronic health condition over 18.
The first program, Healthier Living, will take place January 12 to February 16. The other programs, Healthier Living with Chronic Pain, Healthier Living with Diabetes and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) for individuals dealing with mental health issues, will be offered with dates to be determined. The Healthier Living programs are for individuals who have chronic health conditions or for those who are care givers to someone dealing with a chronic condition.
“These programs change lives by giving individuals skills to become active managers of their lives again, even when dealing with chronic health conditions,” says Terri Kneipp, regional self-management program coordinator on the BMH Community Health Team. “Watching people become more confident and engaged in life again are two of the best outcomes a facilitator may be lucky enough to witness when conducting a workshop. With these workshops, I witness these outcomes all the time!”
