U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will present 20 citizenship candidates to the Vermont District Court during a special venue naturalization ceremony at Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation on Monday, August 11th. The Honorable John M. Conroy, U.S. Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont, will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America’s newest citizens.
Matthew Denhart, Executive Director of the Coolidge Foundation will welcome the citizenship candidates and guests. The Honorable Judge Conroy and Mr. Denhart will deliver congratulatory remarks to the new citizens and their guests. Jennifer Sayles Harville, the great-granddaughter of President and Grace Coolidge, will perform the National Anthem.
The citizenship candidates represent the following 16 countries: Bhutan (3), Burundi, Canada, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Iceland, India, Jamaica, Nepal (2), Philippines, Somalia (2), Guinea, United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
USCIS naturalization ceremonies in Vermont are judicial ceremonies and with court approval this ceremony is being held at the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation for public awareness of the U.S. citizenship process.
USCIS encourages new citizens and guests to share their naturalization ceremony experiences and photos through social media, using the hashtag #newUScitizen on Twitter. During the last decade, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) welcomed more than 6.6 million naturalized citizens. In fiscal year 2013, approximately 778,127 individuals were naturalized.
