The Vermont Campground Association (VCA), in existence since 1964, is producing its first trade show at the Barre Civic Center the weekend of April 11-13. The Vermont Camping and Outdoor Show will feature exhibits and representatives from over two dozen campgrounds, over ten recreational vehicle or truck dealerships, five New England camping associations, and over twenty companies/organizations of interest to fans of the outdoors.
VCA’s executive director, Peter Daniels, believes the healthy growth of the outdoor tourism industry in Vermont and surrounding states since the beginning of the economic recovery is going to continue as “baby boomers retire and remember camping as one of the most economic and enjoyable ways to be together with family members. We plan for this yearly event to grow along with the industry.”
Hours for the show are Friday 1- 8 pm, Saturday 10 am – 8 pm, and Sunday 10 am - 5 pm. Admission per adult is $8, with a $2 discount with the at-door donation of two non-perishable food items per adult to the Vermont Food Bank. Children 12 and under are free with an adult. Food will be cooked on site as a fundraiser by the Topsham-Corinth Little League. Cheryl the Clown will entertain the children and door prizes, including free camping, will be given away. A display on the history of camping in Vermont is part of the association’s 50th anniversary celebration. Special guests include four cars from the Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday only. Further information can be found at www.vermontcampingoutdoorshow.com.
The Vermont Campground Association members are Vermont private and public campgrounds and affiliates. VCA provides administrative and marketing service for its members through publication and distribution of the Vermont Campground Guide, website (campvermont.com), production of Camping & Outdoor Show, and legislative support.
