New social gatherings, sports, and restaurant restrictions

Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott on Friday announced an extension of the state of emergency and an update to his Executive Order which takes effect Saturday, November 14th at 10pm.

  • Multi-household gatherings, including all public and private social, recreational and entertainment gatherings, indoor and outdoor, including large social gatherings incidental to ceremonies, holiday gatherings, parties and celebrations are suspended until further notice.
  • Restaurants must close all in-person dining at 10pm each day. Bars and social clubs are to close indefinitely. Take out and curbside options can still be offered.
  • Youth and adult recreational sports activities, not related to Vermont Principals Association sanctioned school sports, are suspended until further notice.
  • All businesses, non-profits and government entities shall reinstitute telework policies for all employees to the maximum extent possible. In person meetings are strongly discouraged and should be held by telephone or video conference whenever possible.

Buy Local Holiday Marketing Campaign

The Department of Tourism and Marketing, in collaboration with the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, will soon launch a holiday shopping promotional campaign across an array of media. Statewide, the campaign will encourage online and brick-and-mortar shopping at Vermont-based merchants. Regionally, the campaign will support online sales of Vermont-made products. Eligible businesses interested in being considered for inclusion in this promotional campaign must submit an application by November 18th at 5:00pm.

Vermont Everyone Eats Pays Restaurants to Help Feed Vermonters

Restaurants negatively impacted by COVID-19 are encouraged to sign up for the Vermont Everyone Eats digital voucher program, powered by Localvore. The COVID-19 crisis has dramatically increased the number of Vermonters who are having difficulty accessing adequate food. Vermont Everyone Eats was launched in August and is on track to deliver 30,000 meals/week through community distribution sites in all 14 counties around the state. Over 100 Vermont restaurants are already receiving $10/meal from Vermont Everyone Eats. Funding for the program is still available to eligible restaurants on a first come, first served basis through the end of December.

Unemployment Insurance Town Halls

The Vermont Department of Labor (DOL) will host a series of Town Halls focused on unemployment insurance for Vermont employers. The next town hall is scheduled for Monday, November 16th at 11:00am.
