Vermont State Police arrests suspect in Bolton homicide

Vermont State Police Following continued investigation, the Vermont State Police has arrested Averil Beliveau, 30, on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of 45-year-old Cameron Faling, 45. Ms. Beliveau and Mr. Faling were residents of the apartment at the Bolton Valley base village.

An autopsy completed Sunday, March 15, 2020, by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington determined the cause of Mr. Faling’s death was incised wounds to the neck, and the manner of death was homicide.

Continued investigation into the incident by state police determined that Ms. Beliveau killed Mr. Faling in the Bolton Valley apartment Thursday night. She called police Saturday morning to report the incident.

Beliveau was ordered jailed without bail at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington pending arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Burlington.

Members of the Vermont State Police are investigating the apparent homicide of a man in the town of Bolton.

The victim was discovered deceased by troopers responding to a call of a disturbance shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, in a studio apartment unit inside the Bolton Valley base village, 4302 Bolton Valley Access Rd. in Bolton. Responding troopers located a woman in the unit unharmed. There is no threat to the public. The day and time of the victim’s death is under investigation.

Detectives with the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigations, joined by members of the Crime Scene Search Team and Field Force Division, are investigating the incident.

The victim’s body will be brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. His identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
