Vermont Business Magazine The Community Health Centers of Burlington (CHCB) announce the initiation of a comprehensive, nation-wide search for a Chief Executive Officer through ZurickDavis Executive Search Professionals. CHCB also said that Kate Reed will soon take over as Interim CEO.
CHCB said in a statement that this is an opportunity to lead and shape a pioneering health care organization; the next CEO will position CHCB to thrive in a changing healthcare environment and to respond to the varied needs of community members.
The ideal CEO will have a record of successful leadership of a mission-driven, community-based health care organization, and will be drawn to the goal of improving the life and health of the CHCB community.
They should have strong financial skills; a record of cultivating mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues, staff, and external partners; a record of success in grant procurement/fundraising; and a keen understanding of how to work with a Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate will be a strong, seasoned leader to guide the development of organizational culture and infrastructure to support the recent acquisition of new practices, prepare for value-based payment models, bolster the leadership team, and enhance professional development throughout CHCB. Kate Reed, RN, MBA, will be stepping in as Interim CEO starting January 13. Angela Comeau has been Acting CEO. CHCB recently came to agreement with its union on a new contract.
CHCB said Reed brings a unique blend of executive and clinical experience, having previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, President of St Joseph's Children's Hospital and St Joseph's Women's Hospital in Tampa, and Senior Vice President and Clinic Administrator for Virginia Mason Medical Center.
In her roles at both Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital, Reed was responsible for the organizations’ community health center strategy, operations, and community health improvements.
She earned her Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Her extensive and continuing education includes an RN Diploma from Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing, a BA in Business Administration from Boston College and certifications in negotiation from Harvard Law School, in Lean from Virginia Mason Medical Center, and In Extreme Leadership from Steve Farber.
