VTrans provides more than $4 million in TAP grants to several communities

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) today announced the recipients of more than $4 million in federal funds for municipal grant projects through the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). This year’s funding will be used for all TAP category types throughout Vermont.

“These projects will further enhance and expand our state’s transportation infrastructure,” said Transportation Secretary Joe Flynn. “Improvements to sidewalks, bike paths, and shared-use paths provide Vermonters more transportation options and improve their quality of life.”

The selected projects this year include:

  • Athens: Scoping study to evaluate flooding and sedimentation issues on Bull Creek.
  • Barre City: Scoping study for bike lanes and ped. crossings along S. Main and Ayers St.
  • Brandon: Scoping study for a shared use path along or near Forest Dale Rd.
  • Brownington: Additional funding for stormwater mitigation along Willoughby River.
  • Burlington: To construct 700 ft of shared use path along Locust Street.
  • Cambridge: Scoping study for an existing culvert on Stebbins Road.
  • Castleton: Construction of a relocated salt and sand shed.
  • Enosburg Falls: Constructing 476 linear feet of 5-foot-wide sidewalk along Pearl Street.
  • Hinesburg: Relocation of a sidewalk on the intersection of Route. 116 and Charlotte Rd.
  • Londonderry: To replace existing 72-inch corrugated steel culvert with box culvert.
  • Lyndon: Additional funding to reconstruct the Sanborn Covered Bridge.
  • Middlebury: Stormwater scoping study to prioritize stormwater treatment projects.
  • Monkton: Scoping Study for Bike/Ped Facilities in the Monkton.
  • Newark: To construct a new salt/sand storage building.
  • Orange: A pedestrian facilities scoping study and in the Orange Village area.
  • Proctor: Scoping study for the Towns of Pittsford, Proctor, and West Rutland for trail/path routes to connect to village centers.
  • Richford: Scoping study for .6 miles of sidewalk along Route 105 and Elementary School Rd.
  • Richmond: Construct 675 ft. of 5 ft. wide concrete sidewalk on the east side of Bridge St.
  • Ripton: Construction of a new salt shed.
  • Rockingham: Bike/pedestrian scoping study expanding the existing Bellows Falls River walk.
  • S. Burlington: Construction of a new box culvert near Bartlett Bay Rd.
  • S. Burlington: Scoping study for a shared use path on Allen Rd.
  • Sharon: Scoping study to upgrade bike and ped. infrastructure along VT14 and VT132.
  • Shelburne: Additional funds for a 5 ft wide sidewalk along a 870’ portion of Irish Hill Road.
  • Springfield: Additional funding for the Toonerville Trail project.
  • Springfield: Scoping Study for sand/salt shed options.
  • St. Albans Town: Scoping study of stormwater improvements along Maquam Shore Rd.
  • Stafford: The re-use of historic steel trusses to rehabilitate a bridge in Strafford.
  • Wardsboro: Additional funding to construct a new salt shed.
  • Willison: Construction of 1450 ft. of concrete sidewalk on the south side of Industrial Ave.
