The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) has launched its 2004-2005 public workshop season and on-line registration is open for all sessions. VMECs workshops are offered throughout Vermont and cover a wide range of manufacturing topics such as: Principles of Lean Manufacturing 101, Cellular Flow Manufacturing, Supercharged Product Development, and Strategic & Long-Range Planning.
Through a combination of classroom instruction and simulation exercises, attendees learn the fundamental principles and processes for implementing lean initiatives that can dramatically improve productivity and operations. Experienced, professional presenters give attendees practical, proven tools and ideas they can take back to their companies and immediately begin using.
Each of the 10 distinct workshop offerings addresses the unique challenges facing Vermont manufacturers. This season there are three new workshop offerings for the administrative part of a manufacturing business and for executives:
· Administrative Lean Applies lean methodology to administrative functions to identify problem areas and apply straightforward techniques to cut through the complexity of these processes.
· Lean Sigma Blends Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods to achieve breakthrough improvements in unit cost, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
· Lean for Executives This half-day workshop introduces executives to the principles of lean manufacturing and how the impact can reduce cycle time, improve on-time shipments, improve quality and reduce inventory.
Through a working partnership with the Vermont Training Program of the Department of Economic Development, VMEC is pleased to offer a $125 discount to Vermont manufacturers, reducing the $275 workshop registration fee to $150 per person. Register early to ensure you receive this discount.
