Sugarbush Resort Secures Permits for Lodge at Lincoln Peak

Sugarbush Resort announced that it
has secured an amended land-use permit from Vermont’s District 5 Act 250
Environmental Commission and the required local and Agency of Natural
Resources permits. This completes the necessary permitting to make The
Lodge at Lincoln Peak a reality.
"We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the permitting process,"
commented Bob Ackland, Sugarbush President and General Manager. "It is
through the input and support of all of the groups involved that the Lodge
at Lincoln Peak is what it is today, a remarkable project that is both
architecturally outstanding and environmentally sound, completely in
keeping with the values of Sugarbush and the Mad River Valley. It seems to
me that a lot of people understand that the Lodge at Lincoln Peak will
breathe new life into the entire area and they want to contribute to its
success."
In addition to increasing the number of visitors to the Resort and the
Valley, operating the Lodge will require a lot of great employees. The
Lodge will be a "five-star property and will deliver the highest level of
service. From maintenance, restaurant servers and concierge to leadership
roles in management, the Lodge will provide Valley residents with more
career opportunities," noted Ackland.
The Lodge at Lincoln Peak, to be located at the base of Sugarbush’s
Lincoln Peak, will be comprised of three buildings and feature 141 luxury
residences. Lodge amenities will include an underground parking garage,
year-round outdoor heated pool, full spa and fitness center, two
restaurants, ballroom, and conference facilities.
Interest in the project has been very positive, from the smooth permitting
process to the many reservations for units in the Lodge at Lincoln Peak
that are streaming in. Nearing its maximum number of reservations that
will be accepted during Phase I of the reservations process, the interest
level is only gaining momentum. The reservations ensure that buyers
receive a prioritized position in the purchase of the type of unit that
they desire. The sales team for the Lodge has been accepting $2,000
reservation fees from enthusiastic investors since early April and the
total number now stands at 250 reservations for sixth shares. According to
Bill Wheeler, Director of Sales for the Lodge, the maximum number that
will be accepted during Phase I is 325. In all, there are 846 total shares
available in the Lodge. "Once we reach the 325 mark the sales team will
begin the fulfillment process, which simply means that reservations will
be converted into contracts," Wheeler said.
In preparation for becoming a first-class operation, the Resort recently
signed a contract with Fandango Resorts, a resort management firm based in
Park City, Utah. Fandango has begun their relationship with Sugarbush by
stepping in and assuming day-to-day operations of the Sugarbush lodging
operation. "Fandango is all about delivering the best product and finest
service," commented Ackland. "In order to offer the Lodge at Lincoln Peak
as a premier property, we need to be very focused on our existing
businesses."
In preparation for the start of construction next April, site work
preparation and the implementation of stormwater and erosion control
measures are scheduled to begin immediately. Completion of the Lodge is
expected to take place in the fall of 2005.
