The Vermont Student Assistance Corp. has named two individuals
to senior positions with the public nonprofit agency. Scott Giles of
Arlington, Va., has been appointed vice president of Policy, Research and
Planning, effective July 1. Paul Stutzman, most recently of Longmont, Co.,
has joined VSAC as director of Financial Aid Delivery and Operations.
Giles is currently deputy chief of staff with the Committee on Science in
the U.S. House of Representatives. He served on the staff of the Senate
Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions while it was under the
chairmanship of Sen. James Jeffords, I-Vt. Giles also has experience as a
public affairs consultant serving clients in the fields of higher
education, health care and science. In his new position, Giles will
oversee the Research, Federal Affairs and Public Affairs departments at
VSAC.
Stutzman worked as an independent consultant providing services to
academic institutions, business, government (including the U.S. Department
of Education) and software vendors. Previously, Stutzman worked for Oracle
Corporation, the University of Colorado at Boulder and Illinois State
University. At VSAC, Stutzman oversees application processing, eligibility
determination, delivery of funds, account servicing and record maintenance
for grant, scholarship and loan programs.
