IBEW Local 300 Sponsors Thunder Road Race Car

South Burlington, Vt. (April 29, 2008) The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 300 will once again sponsor the 74 Racing Teams Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS.
The car, driven by 25-year race veteran Jerry Lesage, competes in the Late Model Division at Thunder Road, a renowned short track speedway in Barre. Lesage carries a four-person pit crew that includes IBEW Local 300 member Paul Weston.

The 74 Racing Team is very thankful for IBEW Local 300s support, said Weston. I have been a union member for 13 years and am enormously proud to promote our awesome work ethic and the many career opportunities in the electrical trades.

Lesages vehicle will be on display May 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. as part of the Touch A Truck event at Sand Hill Park in Essex. His points-counting season opener at Thunder Road goes down May 11, with Thursday evening races continuing from June 12 through August.
Race fans come from every walk of life and certainly appreciate the monumental contributions of union workers and businesses to our society, said IBEW Local 300 Business Manager George Clain. Just like race car drivers, Local 300 members continually put it all on the line to get the job done safely and efficiently.
