Corporate Vermont teams up with Green Up for 2009

Teaming up with Green Up is a win-win-win. Vermont wins, Green Up wins and the team mate wins, reported Melinda Vieux, President of Green Up Vermont.
When Governor Deane Davis in 1970 proclaimed the first of its kind statewide clean-up, he was gratified by the resounding response to his call for a volunteer army of thousands of citizens to pick up roadside litter. Thirty-nine years later, Vermont s forces continue to mobilize, with more than 15,000 expected for Green Up Day, Saturday May 2.
This year s forces will be strengthened by the funding support from corporate Partners and Friends of Green Up Day 2009. Top level Stafford Partner VSECU reminds us that with volunteers help, a clean Vermont is in the bag. Aiken Partners bolstering the effort include: Ben & Jerry s, Beverage Association of Vermont, Casella Waste Systems, Co-operative Insurance Companies, Fair Point Communications, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, National Life Group, The Vermont Country Store, WCAX TV and 802 Creative Partners.
Further support comes from Friends: Green Works the Vermont Nursery & Landscape Association, NRG Systems, the Plastics Industries of the American Chemistry Council, Cabot Creamery, Husky, Bond Auto, Grosolar, Green Mountain Power, Seventh Generation, the Vermont State Chamber of Commerce and Burlington Free Press.
