The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern VT presented 2010 Better Homes Award Winners at a gala event October 19. More than 450 construction professionals attended the 8th annual event at the Sheraton Burlington.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to the member who has give much of their life to the building community and has been a member for a number of years. The past receipients have all been members held in high regard that have made an impact on the housing industry in Vermont. This year we are proud to honor Bob Marcellino of Homestead Design, Inc. with our Lifetime Achievement Award. Bob has been an active member of the Assocation since 1975. Bob served the Asociation in many ways from committee and board of director member to serving as the Association President in 1980 and 1981. In 2002, Homestead Design was honored with the Builder of the Year award. Bob passed away on September 7, 2010. Congratulations Bob Marcellino and Homestead Design for receiving the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award!

The T. Wayne Kondor Builder of the Year Award, named after the late Wayne Kondor, was developed to highlight a builder member that is involved in the Association, as well as the community. The past recipients have been members that have given a tremendous amount of time and energy to the Association as well as to their community. Congratulations to Collin Frisbie of Sterling Construction for being named the 2010 Builder of the Year! Collin Frisbie has show over the years his dedication to making Vermont what it is - a place that draws people to live, work and play. Collin joined his father Bart Frisbie at Sterling Construction in 2005. Sterling Construction began creating homes for Vermont over 20 years ago and during that time has helped countless Vermonters realize the American dream. Collin has served on many committees and was the Association President in 2008.

The Remodeler of the Year Award is presented to a member who specializes in remodeling. Past recipients have been active in the Remodelers Council, the Association as well as their community. Mark has been a member of the Association since 1989 and has become extremely active over the last few years as the chairperson of the Central VT Council and is a member of the Remodelers Council. Groleau Construction was founded by Mark's father Marcel Groleau in 1959. Mark took over management of the company in 1995 and he and his wife Christine purchased it in 2000. Mark is very detail oriented and offers a high quality of service. Congratulations to Mark Groleau for being named the 2010 Remodeler of the Year!

The Associate of the Year Award is presented to the Associate member who has shown the most commitment to the Association over the past year. This can involve committee participation, attendance at membership events, testifying at the Statehouse, and membership recruitmen/retention to name a few. This can be presented to an individual or an entire company. Jeff Myers of Myers Container has been an active member of the Association for the past twelve years. Jeff and the entire Red Can family regularly attends Assocation events. Jeff has been involved in the housing industry his entire life, first owning a construction company in the 1980's and for the last sixteen years, running Myers Container. Jeff is a native Vermonter and a graduate of Winooski High School. Currently Myers Containers has 32 trucks and over 40 employees. Jeff is always helping Vermont become a better place by donating his time, resources and money to dozens of local charities. Congratulations Jeff!
