The Mount Family Group Ltd, a Burlington icon since 1982, has transitioned
to its second generation of ownership. James Mount of Colchester and Karen
Mount of Williston have purchased the stock in the company from David and
Frances Mount who have owned the company since 1982. David Mount will
remain with the company as CEO until December and thereafter will serve as
a member of the Board of Directors and will advise the company as needed.
Fran Mount has retired from active management.
Mount Family Group Ltd. is one of the largest independently owned
operators of staffing service companies in the New York and New England
region. The company operates 11 Westaff franchises in Vermont, New
Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island. It operates two Remedy Intelligent
Staffing franchises in Massachusetts. Both Westaff and Remedy are
franchised by the Select Family of Staffing Companies headquartered in
Santa Barbara, California.
‘I am proud to have completed this transaction,’ David Mount said.
‘It has been a long time in coming and we have carefully groomed James
and Karen so that the company can continue to serve customers for many
years.’ The Mount Family Group Ltd had been a member of the Vermont
Family Business Initiative of the University of Vermont and has planned
this transition for several years.
‘I am excited to be able to move into the ownership position,’ said
James Mount. ‘We are taking on a challenge but our company is healthy and
we are working in a wonderful market and place to live.’
Karen Mount added that ‘The company has provided quality jobs to
Vermonters for almost 30 years’ and that ‘this transition assures that
this will continue into the foreseeable future.’
