Green Mountain Care seeking nominations for its general Advisory Committee

The Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB) is seeking members for its general Advisory Committee. The GMCB is charged under Act 48 of 2011 with advancing Vermont’s health reform efforts by implementing state policies that:
· contain the rate of growth in health care costs;
· assure that Vermont has an adequate supply of health care practitioners to meet the state’s needs;
· encourage efficiency and quality in our health care delivery system, and;
· encourage Vermonters to be and stay healthy.
The GMCB also is required, under the law, to have an advisory committee that is broadly representative of those with an interest in assuring that Vermont has an affordable, high quality health system. Those interested in applying to sit on the GMCB Advisory Committee are asked to submit a letter of interest by December 20, 2011. The board will choose members of the Advisory Committee from among interested applicants. Interested applicants will find information on how to apply at the GMCB website:

The GMCB Advisory Committee will meet in Montpelier 4-6 times during the year for approximately two hours, beginning in January 2012. Members will review targeted topics and related materials (e.g., hospital budgets and health system financing, hospital certificates of need and health insurance rates). Members who are not reimbursed by their employer for participation may be eligible for a per-diem payment.
Every citizen has an important role in health care reform. In addition to the GMCB Advisory Committee, a number of other technical advisory groups will be formed on specific subjects within the board’s scope of responsibilities, and the board will hold periodic hearings across the state to provide opportunities for the public to discuss health care reform.
