MyWebGrocer to host Vermont’s first 24-hour Hackathon

On September 16, MyWebGrocer will host Vermont’s first ever 24-hour hackathon in the Champlain Mill in Winooski. The nonstop computer programming and code-writing marathon will give students and professionals throughout New England the chance to show MyWebGrocer and their peers what they’re made of, with a chance to win $10,000 in cash prizes.

Participants of the hackathon will use one or more of MyWebGrocer’s API’s to build anything they want within a variety of different platforms, including web, mobile and Facebook. The event will supply participants with round-the-clock food and beverages, goodie bags, door prizes, bragging rights and opportunities to win $10,000 in cash prizes: $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place and $2,000 for third place.
FairPoint Communications is the presenting sponsor; other sponsors include C2, Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer, Opportunities Credit Union and Small Dog Electronics. Leonardo’s Pizza and Boloco will provide meals for participants. Judges of the event include local business professionals Rich Nadworny, owner of Digalicious; Julie Lerman, author, speaker and owner of The Data Farm; Cairn G. Cross, co-founder of FreshTracks Capital; Jon Woodard from Wolfram|Alpha; and Tim Kenney, chief operating officer of MyWebGrocer.
