The discussion focused on the importance of expanding investments in innovation and industry. ‘If we as a people can adopt a strategic vision where policy is dictated by the priority to preserve the USA as the world’s beacon for innovation, our future can be very bright indeed," commented BioTek Vice President, Adam Alpert, as he welcomed the White House Business Council and attendees.
The meeting was attended by representatives from some of Vermont’s top businesses including: BioTek, Dealer.com, Fresh Tracks Capital, Formula Ford Auto Group, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Green Mountain Power, IBM, Jay Peak, Liquid Measurement Systems, Mobile Medical and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce.
The Vermont Chamber of Commerce organized the meeting at the request of the White House Business Council. "We are excited to have had the White House Business Council in Vermont," said Vermont Chamber of Commerce President, Betsy Bishop. "This was a unique opportunity for some of Vermont's business leaders to share their ideas with Obama Administration officials who will help shape future economic policy. It was also a great opportunity for us to connect with these individuals and start to build a relationship as the President gets ready to unroll his jobs plan."
The discussion was conducted as part of the Administration’s ‘Win the Future’ Roundtables with American Business. White House Business Council representative Martha Johnson, Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration, as well as Regional Administrator, Robert Zarnetske facilitated the meeting.
