See the statement from the Vermont Attorney General here.
In a statement issued Monday, Tom Reardon ofMcGregors Pharmacies said: "The case consisted of complex issues and we disagreed with the States analysis. We hoped to have our day in court, but the legal fees didnt justify that. After several years of vigorous litigation and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in legal fees, a settlement was the only alternative. The settlement agreement is neither an admission of liability by MCGRX, nor a concession by the State that their claims are not well founded.
"The owner denies any wrong doing, but to resolve this matter, has agreed to step down. The alternative was to close the company. Her departure was for the good of the employees and for all of the patients that she dearly cares about.
"We are pleased to have this investigation resolved and put the matter behind us. In going forward, the State of Vermont has stated that it considers all issues to have been resolved and MCGRX is in compliance with the Vermont Medicaid rules, regulations and policies.
"MCGRX is a responsible provider of healthcare and that is evidenced by the fact that there were no allegations implicating the quality of care that we provide. Our patients trust that we will provide them with extraordinary care, and trust that we will bill them and our payers accordingly. All aspects of our business are taken very seriously and we are determined to meet the highest standards of compliance and excellence in all areas of our operations.
"We look forward to continuing to maintain our focus on providing superior quality and service to the patients we serve and have been for decades."
