Celebrate Vermont Festival August 23-26

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, Deptof Tourism & Marketing and Dept of Agriculture, along with many local Vermont businesses, craftspeople and outdoor enthusiasts, will celebrate the beauty, culture and bounty thatmakes Vermont a wonderful place to live and visit. In collaboration with Vermont-based festival organizers Craftproducers, Inc., we invite you to attend the inaugural Celebrate Vermont Festival, August 23-26, 2012 in Stowe, Vt.

The festival is a celebration of all things Vermont,including Vermont-made foods, wine, beer, spirits, live music,dance, arts and crafts, and community traditions. Activities will primarily take place at the Stowe Events Field with forestry and logging activities to be held at the Trapp Family Lodge. Evening performances will be offered at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center at the Mountain, and at various locations in Stowe Village. AVermont Cocktail contest will be held at the Stoweflake Resort on Saturday. Approximately 4,000-8,000 people are expected to attend this 4-day celebration of Vermont.
The Festival will debut with the Noah's Ark Parade featuring farmers, children, animals, floats and antique tractors. The parade will wind through Stowevillage on Thursdaybeginning at 10am.Gate opens at 11am at the Stowe Events Field with 25 specialty food booths, 50 juried craft booths, 25 artist booths and 25 booths featuring Vermont-made products.
Visitors can enjoy tastings and pairings of Vermont artisan cheeses, beers and spirits and demonstrations by master Vermontchefs.On Friday, the chefs will showcase lamb, and on Saturday, a celebration of pork. The grand finale will be on Sunday, when Chef Frank Pace grills a 1000-lb Vermont grass fed steer on a custom welded trapeze.
Festival workshops and seminars will include information on various aspects of animal husbandry, home gardening, small-scale farming, orcharding, domestic energy conservation and generation, beekeeping, composting and woodlot& forest stewardship.
Forestry sessions at Trapp Family Lodge will include sustainable logging, hewing competitions, safe chainsaw felling and wood carving.
The Vermont Spirits Cocktail contest will take place at Stoweflake Resort on Saturday evening where attendees can sip, savor and vote for the Best Cocktail, Best Garnish, and Best Party Drink.
At the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, the Festival of the Americas will take place with world-class musicians including many Vermonters.Meanwhile in the Village,The Sound Of Musicwill be shown Friday evening, a vaudeville performance and film showings will be offered by the Stowe Theatre Guild on Friday and Saturday evenings.With the best live entertainment that Vermont has to offer, there will be performances for every taste and audience.
Visitorsto Stowe will enjoy special offers for lodging, area merchants will be showcasing Vermont-made products and chefs will feature delectable seasonal Vermont cuisine.
Cost is $8 adult/$4 child (5-17) or $10 for a weekend pass.Tickets are available online via the event website or can be purchased at the gate.
