TD Charitable Foundation supports Reading is an Investment with donation

The TD Charitable Foundation, funded by TD Bank, recently donated a total of $15,000 to the Reading is an Investment program as part of the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community.
Reading is an Investment is a program managed by the Vermont State Treasurer’s Office. The program promotes financial literacy for elementary-age students through a reading and curriculum program. Now in its third year, there are 126 Vermont elementary schools participating. Starting October 1, the program will be pilot tested in 30 public libraries in Vermont. Each fall, participating schools receive three books with a financial theme, along with related curriculum. A statewide reading program further promotes individual study.
Contributions to the program go to the Financial Literacy Trust Fund, a fund created by the State Legislature in 2008 to accept contributions directly supporting financial literacy programs. The funds from the TD Charitable Foundation will support the purchase of books and curriculum resources.
‘Reading is an Investment is a program that brings together parents, teachers, and school librarians in an effort to teach young children about money and basic financial concepts,’said Lisa Helme, director of financial literacy for the State Treasurer’s Office. ‘This program would not be possible without the support of the TD Charitable Foundation.’
