National housing conference to be held in Burlington in September

The National Community Land Trust Network has announced that their 2012 national conference will be hosted by the Champlain Housing Trust in Burlington, Vermont. The conference, to run September 10 through 14, will draw an estimated 350 housing practitioners from across the globe, with the first international track of courses. Registration is open.
The Network launched a conference website (www.cltnetwork.org/2012-National-Conference) that includes a schedule of events and course listings. The conference will feature tours of housing developed by CHT and others, a film festival, study visits of other Burlington organizations and enterprises, and a keynote address by Dr. J. Otis Smith, an officer and senior consultant with Stand By Systems II, Inc., a consultation firm of national scope that specializes in facilitation, organizational development, conflict resolution, and motivation.
‘We are excited to bring our conference to Burlington, the site of many innovations and accomplishments in the affordable housing sector,’said Connie Chavez, President of the Network Board and Executive Director of Sawmill Community Land Trust in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ‘This will be an excellent opportunity to share, learn and energize our Network members to strengthen affordable housing organizations in communities across the world.’
The Champlain Housing Trust was formed in 1984 and is steward to over 1,500 affordable apartments and more than 500 permanently affordable owner occupied homes in its signature homeownership program. More information on CHT may be found at www.champlainhousingtrust.org.
The National Community Land Trust Network (www.cltnetwork.org) provides training, advocacy and resources for its member organizations which nurture and sustain healthy and economically diverse communities by providing permanently affordable access to land, homes, and related resources.
