The Vermont Chamber of Commerce has organized regional cooperation around a marketing and sales development effort at the Farnborough Air Show, July 9-13, 2012 in Hampshire, UK. The show is a platform for 1,300+ exhibitors from the private, commercial, civil and military sectors. The show is specifically designed to facilitate tailor-made opportunities to meet, negotiate and announce business transactions. It is the largest, most internationally attended aerospace event in the world.
Five Vermont businesses will exhibit in the â Best of New England’booth in the showâ s U.S.A. Pavilion [1]along with businesses and economic development staff from Maine and New Hampshire. The Vermont Chamber, Vermont Global Trade Partnership and U.S. Commercial Service have come together in support of Vermont businesses participating in the Farnborough Airshow with the objective to develop export sales and distributor relationships for Vermont aviation, aerospace and related businesses at the event.
Vermontâ s exports of aeronautics and aviation products to European countries totalmore than$9 million USD. US $47 billion worth of orders were announced during the trade week at the 2010 Farnborough International Airshow.
â Each of our participating states has an outstanding cluster of aerospace and aviation businesses, but these clusters are small when compared with larger states. Using the â Best of New England’moniker, we can pool our promotional resources and present an aggressive marketing force that competes on a global scale. Our booth will really stand out at this showâ and our businesses will benefit,’said Dana Eidsness, Director of International Business, Vermont Chamber of Commerce
â Not only is Vermont home to globally recognized aerospace companies, but we have a very strong supplier network to this industry sector as well. Our commitment to innovation and research and development has allowed us to steadily grow this important segment of our economy which also broadly increases Vermontâ s advanced manufacturing talent and capacity,’added Lawrence Miller, Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development.
Rich Baldwin, VP International Business Development, of MMIC said, â MMIC is having a first time experience at the Farnborough Air Show this month. Though we are a small company from Vermont, we have a very global footprint with products delivered all across the US and the Middle East and with partners in Europe. We look to Farnborough to be a rendezvous point for discussions with our potential customers and colleagues. If it were not for the Best of New England FAS initiative, we would not have the resources to be here. We're excited about our prospects this week."
Vermontâ s participation in the Farnborough Air Show is made possible in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration, through a grant award with its State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) grant program.
