By a 96 percent majority, nurses at Fletcher Allen Health Care voted Thursday to ratify the tentative agreement that had been reached with Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington on June 27. Negotiations concluded during an all night bargaining session, as a strike threat loomed. Nurses had claimed that improved staffing was needed to ensure patient safety.
VFNHP said in a statement that it attributes the success of their campaign to the collective efforts of hundreds of nurses over the past several months including preparedness to strike to maintain patient safety, and many hundreds of community members and elected officials standing by the nurses, attending the FAHC Board of Trustees meeting and the Honk-n-Wave, signing petitions, and writing letters.
