The National Life Group Charitable Foundation will donate $36,000 to the Montpelier Senior Activities Center to close the Centerâ s capital campaign.
â This donation puts us over the top,’said Beverlee Pembroke Hill, assistant city manager.
The senior center was heavily damaged in a 2009 fire. An ambitious reconstruction is nearly complete, but the centerâ s $200,000 fundraising campaign was just shy of the goal.
The donation by the National Life Group Charitable Foundation will put the campaign over the top ‘just in time for the grand re-opening of the renovated center later this month.
â Weâ re thrilled to be able to support such a vital part of our community,’said Beth Rusnock, president of the National Life Group Charitable Foundation. â Between the broad range of services offered, the energy efficient updates, and the warm, inviting atmosphere, this Center is a place we can all be proud of.â
The renovations include new elevators, two stories of senior apartments, as well as new solar panels designed to help power electricity and heat water.
The National Life Group Charitable Foundation has provided major support for a variety of important projects throughout the region, including the construction of the National Life Cancer Treatment Center at Central Vermont Medical Center.
