Two top officials from the Douglas Administration are joining forces in a new energy endeavor that will bring natural gas to businesses across the north country. NG Advantage LLC Founder and Managing Member Tom Evslin has announced plans to deliver inexpensive, North American natural gas to regional businesses not currently served by a pipeline.
The Vermont-based company anticipates that its corporate customers will save between 30-40 percent of what they are currently spending for process and space heating fuel. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2013. Evslin is an entrepreneur whose last company was a publicly traded world leader in voice over the Internet phone calls. He recently served as Vermontâ s volunteer Chief Recovery Officer (â Stimulus Czarâ ) and Chief Technology Officer under Governor Jim Douglas.
Evslin also announced that Neale Lunderville is joining the company as Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Managers. Lunderville was appointed Irene Recovery Officer by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and was Vermont Secretary of Administration under Governor Douglas. He formerly served Vermont as Secretary of Transportation and recently worked at Green Mountain Power Corporation as Leader for Enterprise Innovation.
â I am excited to join NG Advantage, a cutting edge energy company focused on delivering an affordable North American alternative to foreign oil to the businesses across the region,’said Lunderville. â Giving job creators a sustainable, proven and economically sound fuel source is critical and NG Advantage will make that alternative possible.â
NG Advantage will purchase natural gas from existing transmission pipelines, compress it, and load it into specialized trailers, which will then be hauled to manufacturers and other energy intensive industries. Customers will use the natural gas directly from the trailers ‘eliminating the need for huge on-site storage facilities. NG Advantage estimates fuel cost savings for business at between 30 and 40 percent depending on the quantities used and how far the businesses are from an NG Advantage compressor station. NG Advantage will serve food processors, manufacturers, fleets and resorts that use more than 150,000 of oil or propane each year or 100,000 in a six-month period and are within about a two and a half hour drive from its compressor sites.
â High petroleum prices and supply instability threaten the regional economy just as Tropical Storm Irene did,’said Evslin. â We need to move quickly to counter this threat and turn adversity into opportunity by replacing oil products with natural gas at energy-dependent businesses everywhere in the region as soon as possible. No one is better equipped to lead NG Advantageâ s innovate plan to supply natural gas to businesses beyond the pipeline than our new CEO, Neale Lunderville. As Irene Recovery Czar, he coordinated public and private resources to get Vermont back on its feet faster than anyone thought possible.â
â NG Advantage can offer cost savings of 30-40% off current fuel bills for customers not on the existing pipeline,’said Lunderville. â NG Advantage offers a real opportunity for businesses to cut costs and better position themselves for the future.â
The economic and environmental benefits of natural gas extend beyond the businesses served and play a significant role in reducing our dependence on oil as well as our carbon emissions. For 2013 and 2014 alone, the company estimates that its customers will:
Save $13 million in energy costs;
Displace 11,000,000 gallons of oil and propane;
Reduce emissions by and estimated 2,000,00 lbs of sulfur oxide, 200,000 lbs nitrogen oxide and a staggering 65,000,000 lbs of carbon dioxide.
The company is in the planning and permitting stages for a compressor in Milton, Vermont and has plans for a site in northern New Hampshire and expansion throughout the region in future years. NG Advantage is actively pursuing compressor sites in other states to meet growing demand and is currently negotiating service contracts with businesses across the region.
