2012 Vermont Challenge announces the Stratton Foundation as charitable partner

The Vermont Challenge, a multi-day cycling event, has named The Stratton Foundation as the official charitable partner of the inaugural event, which will be held in southern and central Vermont August 15 - 19, 2012.

All donations from riders, optional fundraising efforts of our riders, and a portion of the revenue and sponsorship funding, will be provided to The Stratton Foundation to address the needs of the Vermonters affected by Hurricane Irene in the communities touched by The Vermont Challenge.

John Sohikian, founder and President of the Vermont Challenge, said that The Vermont Challenge is all about supporting the communities involved in the event. "We can think of no better way than supporting the efforts of The Stratton Foundation's Irene Relief fund," said Sohikian. "Hurricane Irene hit Vermont last August, so it's fitting that The Vermont Challenge focuses on helping people affected by its aftermath that is so real nearly one year later."

Tammy Mosher, Executive Director at The Stratton Foundation said, "The Stratton Foundation is pleased to serve as the charitable partner for this fabulous event. Summer will again reveal the devastation from the storm and it is unlikely that riders will not be moved by the still apparent wreckage to our area as riders travel through our eclectic and unique Vermont towns, where people work so hard, and are all linked by the common thread of providing visitors with a Vermont experience. We look forward to working with The Vermont Challenge."

The Vermont Challenge will take place from August 15 - 19, 2012, and offers multi-day cycling events through Southern and Central Vermont. Each day's events finish with food, fun and music in a festival atmosphere. The cycling routes provide riders with an opportunity to encounter farm fields, river valleys, rolling hills with varying elevation gains, the people and products of Vermont at the aid stations and finish festival each day.
