Jeff Couture, the long-serving communications manager at the IBM plant in Essex Junction, informed the Vermont media today that he is stepping down on Friday. While being the lead local spokesman for IBM, Couture also has been doing public relations for the Vermont Technology Alliance for the last couple of years. He will now be the executive director of that organization.
In a statement, Couture said: "I’m writing to let you know that I am retiring from IBM at the end of this month. My last day with IBM is Dec. 20. I’m moving on to my new job as executive director of the Vermont Technology Alliance, a business association of Vermont technology companies that is focused on supporting, promoting and expanding the state’s technology business sector. I've been in the position part-time for the past year and a half, and it will become full-time in 2014. ‘
"I’ve appreciated the opportunity to work with you in my role as spokesperson for IBM in Vermont, and the professional and positive working relationship we’ve had in your reporting of hundreds of stories throughout my IBM career."
