HUBER+SUHNER to leave Vermont, move headquarters to North Carolina

Switzerland-based HUBER+SUHNER will relocate its North America headquarters from Essex Junction, VT to Charlotte, NC, by the middle of 2014, the company announced today. It employs 63 at its Essex Junction plant. HUBER ranked 26th in 2012 on Vermont Business Magazine's Vermont 100, a ranking of the largest Vermont-based companies with $110 million in revenues.

‘Essex Junction has been a good fit for our company since we established our North America headquarters here in 1990, but our business has changed in the past few years, causing us to look elsewhere,’ according to Andrew Hollywood, President & General Manager of HUBER+SUHNER, North America.
Hollywood said the 63 employees currently working in Essex Junction perform a variety of jobs from product assembly to sales and distribution to management. Some employees will be asked to move with the company. Most assembly positions will be discontinued as of the end of this year. All separated employees will be offered severance packages and outplacement services provided by the company. The relocation will be completed by June, 2014.
HUBER+SUHNER is a worldwide company which develops and manufactures components and system solutions for electrical and optical transportation of data and energy. The company serves customers in the Communication, Transportation and Industrial Markets with cables, connectors, cable systems, antennas and other passive components relying on its expertise in radio frequency, fiber optics and low frequency technologies.
In 2010, developments in the telecommunications industry caused the company to establish a new manufacturing facility in Mexico. In 2012, continued growth led the company to acquire Astrolab Inc, a precision components manufacturing company in Warren, NJ. Assembly operations will be transferred to those facilities.
In 2013, HUBER+SUHNER made a number of changes in its operations worldwide. North Carolina’s proximity to other markets, combined with a competitive salary environment and a favorable cost of doing business convinced the company’s management to relocate its North American headquarters to Charlotte, NC.
HUBER+SUHNER maintains close relationships with its customers in more than 60 countries as the result of its global production network, sales offices, as well as numerous distributors.
